PATERSON, NJ – Six solar-powered surveillance trailers are being installed in Paterson to improve public safety and enhance surveillance capabilities throughout the city. These trailers, part of the Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) Public Safety Project, will be used to help monitor key areas in the city. The total cost for the project is approximately $377,000 and the contract has been awarded to SHI, a Somerset-based technology provider.
The surveillance trailers will be equipped with solar-powered technology, providing a sustainable and efficient way to improve security in the city’s public spaces. The project aims to ensure safety and support law enforcement efforts while being environmentally friendly by utilizing solar energy.
The funding for this initiative has been allocated from the UEZ program, which is specifically designed to promote economic development and improve public safety in designated areas of Paterson. The installation of these surveillance trailers is expected to have a lasting impact on the city’s crime prevention and monitoring capabilities, officials said.
In addition to the surveillance trailers, SHI has been awarded a separate $60,000 contract for the purchase and installation of four portable surveillance systems.
The new surveillance systems will feature Axis P3738-PLE multi-sensor cameras and modems, designed to enhance the city’s monitoring capabilities. These portable systems can be easily deployed to key locations where security needs are high, providing a flexible and effective solution for improving public safety.
